Riposte
NEW IN 4.8: two more acts of story. Six nights at the Starlite arcade in 1989, and the Lantern Floor underneath it, with a new boss and two endings. It's scarier now too; HAUNTING in Settings goes from OFF all the way to TOO MUCH.
Want it on your desktop? The Windows version updates itself: https://github.com/thatguyborni/riposte/releases/latest
You have no gun. You have a shield.
Everything in Riposte fires at you, and every shot you catch flies back and hunts down whoever sent it. Catch late, right on the inner line, for a PERFECT: faster, stronger, and it keeps your chain alive. One returned shot can chain through half a wave.
It all runs on an old arcade cabinet, with a real CRT screen: curved glass, scanlines, phosphor glow and the odd glitch when things get heated.
It's just an arcade game.
MODES
- ARCADE: endless waves and one life bar. Chase the high score and send the code to your friends, or climb the global board.
- DESCENT: a roguelike run through three depths, with branching maps, mods, shops, events and a guardian at the bottom of each depth. Win, bank tokens, unlock more, and go again.
- DAILY RUN: one seed a day, the same for everyone. One try.
- TRAINING: learn every move in two minutes.
THINGS TO FIND
- 16 mods and 6 hidden synergies between them
- Cursed altars that trade power for risk
- 5 guardians, each with a second phase
- Hidden vaults, a signal to follow, and a true ending
- 3 strays lost in the depths. Rescue them and they move into your back room.
- 5 ascension levels once you've won
- 31 trophies
CONTROLS
Keyboard + mouse: WASD to move, the mouse aims the shield, SPACE to pulse, SHIFT to dash, ESC to pause.
Controller: left stick to move, right stick to aim, RT to pulse, LT to dash, START to pause.
F11 toggles fullscreen. The screen effects can be tuned or turned off in Settings.
CONTENT WARNING: Riposte slowly turns into a horror game. It has unsettling imagery, a few jump scares and a ghost story about a missing child. Nothing graphic, no gore. Once the scares start, you can tone them down or turn them off in Settings (HAUNTING).
ONLINE SCORES & SAVES: Your arcade scores go to the global boards on Game Jolt under the name you pick. To earn trophies and keep your save in the cloud, log in from Records → Online with your Game Jolt username and game token (not your password). Otherwise your save only lives in this browser, so log in or use Records ---> Back up save if you don't want to lose it. Only your chosen name, your scores and (if you log in) your save are sent to Game Jolt. Nothing else is collected.
